Dear May-Britt,

My name is Laili Aidi, i am first year master student in Communication Systems with registration number xxxxxx-T282.

I send email regarding following un-answer question that i've asked in the meeting lead by Program Director, Prof. Peter S, at last Friday, September 24, 2010 regarding possibility of Communication Systems student to do exchange program and or get dual master degree. 

I have carefully learned the course choices in Communication Systems and set plan about the courses that i will take for the following periods. However, I am also considering any chance to join exchange program and if possible, doing research and get dual master degree from other high qualified Europe university.

I have read information, that KTH is member of Top Industrial Managers for Europe program (TIME - Technologies d'Ingénieurs et Mobilité Etudiante) that allowed student to earn double degrees.  I also have read the information that, TKK / Aalto University and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich / CH-ETHZ  also become member of this program. 

However, I can't get more information about this in KTH website, especially in Communication System master program page. And, as the procedure of doing exchange program is depended on home university (KTH) and host university, thus I want to ask, is that allowed for me to take exchange program in my third semester (autumn 2011) and or doing master thesis in that host university (autumn 2011 + spring 2012) ?

This information is necessary for me, before i can take the next step to contact and gathering deeply information/requirement to the candidate of host university, in Faculty of Information and Natural Science, Aalto University or in Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, CH-ETHZ.

Dear Laili,
I have already got the following answer:
Unfortunately it is not possible with Double degree as it is only for our Master of Science in Engineering (5 years) and even if this had been the case we do not have any agreement with TKK or ETH.

The only possibility is if we have dual master exchange with these universities for the master programme you are studying at.

As we have the NordSecMob programme (Erasmus Mundus programme) which is following about the same courses as Communication systems and where TKK=Aalto University (they have resently changed name from TKK to Aalto) is the coordinator for this programme I was thinking maybe you could go as an exchange student there for your 3rd term. That has actually one student  already done and counted the courses into the degree from KTH, but not as a double degree, as far as I know. We have to check with Eija Kujanpaa responsible there at Aalto, if that can also be possible.
