Subject: Google xxx opportunities 2011
Hi there Aidi!
My name is secret sender and I handle the Google's EMEA Engineering xxx Programme. We are currently (September 2010 to February 2011) recruiting xxx to join us starting in 2011. We only have a few projects left. I received your information from a colleague and will be happy to take over your application from here. Please contact me if you have any questions - or let me know when I can call you!
First of all - are you interested in applying for an xx?
If so, here's information on how the xx application process works:
First, we get some info from you about your interests, experience and preferences. Our engineering teams examine this information for potential matches with their projects. Next, we arrange a preliminary phone interview for you and one of our engineers. Depending on your performance, you may continue on to one or two additional phone interviews, followed by an informal chat with your potential manager. The length of this process varies according to your own schedule and project availability in your preferred locations. Usually, it takes about a month or two. I'll be the primary person keeping you up-to-date throughout the process.
Please read this part carefully, to check if you're eligible for an xx!
To be eligible for an xx, you should be returning to university afterwards, or the xx should be a formal part of completing your studies (such as a 'stage de fin d'etudes' in France). Google Engineering xx are typically full-time positions and take place year-round. Start and end dates are flexible, with a minimum duration of three months. We accept xx at all levels of education: Bachelors, Masters and PhD. It's also worth bearing in mind that all our projects are heavily coding-based in software engineering roles.
To get started, I'll need to know:
- Your preferred programming languages (Alien language 1, Alien language 2, etc.?)
- How well do you know the programming language xx?
- Please choose up to two primary areas of technical interest from the following list:
1. Crazy field 1
2. Crazy field 2
3. ..
31. Crazy field xx
- Can you describe 2 interesting technical projects that you were recently involved in? (5-10 lines each) Please do not include any confidential information, but include details of how recent the projects were, the quantity of code, languages used, how many people were involved, how long you worked on them, operating systems and technologies used.
- When are you available to start an xx at Google and for how long? (Google xxx programme must last a minimum of 3 months).
- Which Google locations are you interested in? We have technical xxx opportunities available in xx, xx, xx, xx, xx and xx (please note that we can only consider your application for countries in which you're legally entitled to work).
- Your nationality(ies).
- What degree are you currently studying? (BSc, MSc, PhD?)
- Your anticipated graduation date.
- Your current GPA (grade point average) at university. In other words, what is your overall score or result? For PhDs, your most recent GPA is sufficient.
- I'll also need a copy of your university transcripts (unofficial is fine) listing the courses you've taken grades you've achieved.
- Please also send your most updated CV
Next, please provide me with the following information so we can schedule the initial phone interview for you if our engineering teams approve:
- Your availability (please give as many time slots as possible)
*Dates:
*Times (interviews take about 45 minutes to one hour). Please provide times that match with European working hours (10:00am-5:00pm) in the time zone CET
*Preferred phone number including the country code (you'll need a strong, reliable connection. Landlines are usually best):
*Please take a minute to fill out this brief questionnaire (URL:secreat link). Google is legally required to request this information from all applicants. Please let me know if you have any questions about the questionnaire.
If everything is in order, you'll hear from us soon, to set up your interview and ensure that you have all the info and details you need. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Looking forward to hear back from you!
Best,
Secret sender
